The sullen gunman John Dunbar, known as Basilisco, guides a group of pilgrims through the United States in search of the paradise of men, a promised land reserved only to men. During the trip, Dunbar entails a relationship with Lucrecia, sister of the illuminated leader of the pilgrims, the only female member of the expedition. Jon, author of the stories starring Basilisco, tries to redirect his life after his divorce. He recalls his childhood in Asturias and undertakes with his children a rugged documentation trip through the Nevada desert. In turn, Katharina, her ex -partner, visits Paris during a biblical appearance mud storm and meets someone she did not expect to see again. And, in the end, all the characters, in each of their times, end up running with the spider, a figure of uncertain origin and harmful influence, which keeps a narrow link with both John Dunbar and its creator.
