Amnistia i llibertat!

Amnistia i llibertat!

els 113 de l'Assemblea de Catalunya i el final del franquisme. 28 d'octubre de 1973

Colomines i Companys, Agustí

All of them participated in a clandestine meeting of the Assembly of Catalonia, the unitary body of the Catalan opposition established on November 7, 1971. Based on this fact, Agustí Colomines i Companys tells us about the cultural and political change of the late 1960s and early 1970s, which led to the unitary confluence of several groups that had been in conflict since the end of the Civil War. To the cry of Amnesty and freedom!, factory workers, students, residents of neighborhoods and towns throughout Catalonia were the protagonists of the popular mobilizations that culminated in the demonstrations of February 1 and 8 of 1976, and on the first legal Eleventh of September in Sant Boi de Llobregat that same year. The observation of the evolution of political parties and Catalan society gives life to the pages of this book. With an entertaining prose, the author provides unpublished documentation, especially from the US archives, about the vision that the American authorities had of Catalonia and of the Catalan opposition to the dictatorship. Likewise, it incorporates the most recent academic contributions to reconstruct the years before the return of President Tarradellas and the restoration of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
