Rob Fleming is about to turn thirty-six and has an old record shop in North London; a store between seedy and chic where he only sells the music that he likes. And nothing more than vinyls, of course, although his business, intended for a public of serious frivolity collectors, is always on the verge of bankruptcy. And now, in addition, Laura, his last and fantastic girlfriend, has left him. Could it be because Rob seems bent on prolonging his adolescence to decrepitude or, as he thinks, because his record collection and Laura's were incompatible? To console himself, Rob takes refuge in the company of Barry and Dick, his ineffable accomplices in the store, and together they make countless and very masculine lists of the top of pop: the five best films (which always include Reservoir Dogs), the five best episodes of "Cheers" and the five best songs by Elvis Costello ... And he also starts dating Marie, an American singer. It seems that he is finally going to fulfill one of his dreams, to have a girlfriend hired by a record label, until Laura reappears. And although Rob believed at first - or pretended to believe - that this breakup was not among the bloodiest of his life, that Laura was not worthy of being on the list of the top five that had broken his heart, very soon he will begin to Ask yourself questions, very hard questions, and the lists of the top pops will not be enough to answer them: questions about family, monogamy, love and heartbreak, maturity. Could it be that he will finally discover that there is also life, and music, after adolescence?
