Alambradas y rifles

el testimonio de un niño que sobrevivió al Holocausto

Geve, Thomas

Barbed wire and rifles: the testimony of a child who survived the Holocaust tells the personal experience of Thomas Geve, a young German Jew whose childhood was atrociously marked by Nazi anti-Semitism. With a direct, spontaneous and sincere style, the author evokes the sufferings of the Jewish people, based on a tremendously expressive account of his own experience. In June 1943, he was deported to the Auschwitz death camp, where he managed to survive for almost two years. His work delves into the universe of the fields and draws a very accurate image of the concentration society. Furthermore, the testimony acquires an essential relevance because it penetrates into the sufferings suffered by the youngest and weakest prisoners, most of whom perished in the Lager. Thus, Geve lends his voice to all those victims silenced by a dehumanized and atrocious death. Hearing their testimony, therefore, is essential for the perpetuation of historical memory.
