el día en que ETA puso en jaque al régimen franquista
Rivera Blanco, Antonio
We usually approach history from long arcs of time. But what happens if, for once, we focus our attention on the specific moments that have most marked our collective past? The protagonists, their actions, their emotions, their desires, their doubts and their mistakes go to the center of the story, burst in with the force of unpredictability, and we relive them as if it were the first time. In this novel collection, some of the best historians show us that nothing can be taken for granted, and how certain events can leave a deep trace in a country. The success of Operation Ogro, organized to assassinate Luis Carrero Blanco, projected ETA (nationally and internationally) on a prestigious path that began three years earlier with the protests against the Burgos trial and the death sentences. The organization, whose first intention was to overcome traditional nationalism, which it accused of being passive, appeared as the main reference of anti-Francoism by obstructing its continuity. At the same time, political violence was legitimized as a resource and was maintained over time. Thanks to the success of the attack, when the Franco regime ended, the most problematic thing that remained of it was precisely the continuity of ETA.
