15M
el tiempo de las plazas
Ramírez Blanco, Julia
2021 marks ten years of the 15M. Without a doubt, this movement changed the consciences of several generations and forever transformed the political, social, economic and artistic future of Spain. The relevance of 15M is undoubted, so it seems necessary to review that moment: why did it arise? What was generated in those camps? What led to intense sympathies, mobilization and even vital changes? Ethics and aesthetics? How did the way of doing politics, protest and art changed? Is it still in force and in what way? Are political groups the heirs of 15M or is it a movement that transcends politics? Starting from the antecedents on a global and national scale, the book focuses on the camping that was established for several months in the Plaza del Sol in Madrid in 2011 to then go through the different mobilizations that took place in Spain and the United States, dedicating a chapter to Occupy Wall Street. Finally, the author assesses the social consequences arising from the 15M movement and the emergence of political parties that, reflecting the demands of those who mobilized, have appeared on the national scene. "15M. The time of the squares" is widely illustrated with hundreds of images, it has interviews with people who participated in the front line and an updated bibliography.
