| Based on its autograph sources, which had been lost until recently, Gioachino Rossini: «La Veuve andalouse» presents the first and only critical edition of Rossini’s song. In addition to including a performing transcription of the music and the lyrics in all the languages of the first printed versions, this volume provides many contextual sources, such as several unknown Rossini letters, illustrations, and many contemporaneous reviews as well as other primary sources. All in all, it brings to the present a riveting scena worthy of the most celebrated opera composer of the first half of the nineteenth century. A partir de su fuente autógrafa, considerada perdida hasta hace poco, la presente publicación ofrece la primera y única edición crítica de «La Veuve andalouse» de Rossini. Además de incluir una transcripción práctica de la música y el texto de la canción en todos los idiomas de las primeras versiones impresas, el volumen se complementa con numerosas fuentes contextuales, como algunas cartas hasta ahora desconocidas de Rossini, ilustraciones y críticas contemporáneas, entre otras. En fin, trae a la actualidad un episodio fascinante, digno del compositor de ópera más celebrado de la primera mitad del siglo XIX. |
