| This fresh approach to the study of Islamization proposes an innovative conceptual framework that treats the subject as a particular case of cultural change. The aim of the volume is to make Islamization amenable to archaeological and historical analyses of changes in material conditions of life without forsaking the specific history of Islam. Islam and Islamization must be understood in their particular social context, but also in relation to the conditions that hold them together over large geographical and chronological expanses. Este nuevo enfoque del estudio de la islamización propone un marco conceptual innovador que trata el tema como un caso particular de cambio cultural. El objetivo del volumen es hacer que la islamización sea susceptible de análisis arqueológicos e históricos de los cambios en las condiciones materiales de vida sin renunciar a la historia específica del islam. El islam y la islamización deben entenderse en su contexto social particular, pero también en relación con las condiciones que los mantienen unidos a lo largo de grandes extensiones geográficas y cronológicas. |
